Black Magic

First, a disclaimer: not everything that is called black magic really is. It is a common thing for followers of different paths of enlightenment to accuse one another of practicing black magic when the rituals are not performed according to accuser’s own tradition. Due to the influence of Christianity and its negative attitude for magic unsanctioned by the Church, especially with witchcraft and its fertility and love spells, many religious people wrongly believe all spell casters draw their powers from demons and devils.

The Positive

Everyone has heard of black magic, irrespective of whether they know what it is exactly or not. It is also known as dark magic, and is exactly what the name suggests – dark. It is a practice that involves malevolent sorcery to cause harm or misfortune to the person you intend to use it on. Evil, dark, spooky are some of the words that best describe this kind of magic. Those who claim to perform black magic witchcraft, do so without paying any heed to the resulting not-so-pleasant consequences.

Black Magic and Your Intention

It’s easy to see why black magic is not as simple as it seems.  While a person might quickly discount black magic as something which is always bad, this does not necessarily have to be the case.

Black magic can also simply be magic which works to do something to change a situation.  But as with every magic, it’s the intention you put into a spell or another magickal working which makes it good or bad – not necessarily the color of the magic itself.  The idea of black magic witchcraft is not as simple as it seems.

There is no Color in Magic

There are many people who do not believe that magic comes in any colors, so there can be no white or black or dark magic.  Within magic are opportunities to change the energy of a situation, but it is not the magic which changes the outcomes of the situation – it is the person behind the magic.  Think about money.  Money is not inherently bad or good, but it’s how you use money which causes it to take on a good or a bad energy.  Magic is the same way.  But since it’s become commonplace to group magic into two different energies, black magic is a name which has stuck to some magical practices.

What’s so bad about Black Magic?

Even today people still believe that magic is entirely bad and should be avoided at all costs.  Some believe magic to be the work of the devil and that it should be something which is criticized and dismissed entirely.  But magic is something that happens in everyday life, without the need for candles or rituals.  Whenever you may have thought about a person and wanted to talk to them, then they called you out of the blue – that was magic.  You focused your intention and made something more likely to happen.  It’s really the media who has turned the idea of magic into something evil or something that could be called ‘black.’  They have made the idea of magic into something that is always out to harm others, rather than something which can be used to help attract positive things and outcomes.

The User is the One Who Turns the Magic Black

But in every spiritual practice, there are those who wish to use spells to harm others with the help of black magic spells.  While they might not want to physically harm someone, they might simply want to remove them from a situation in order to bring about better luck that something specific might happen.  This is not necessarily black magic, though it might be seen as being manipulative.  For some, however, this sort of magic seems right and seems effective.  And perhaps it is for them.  What a person might want to think about is their intentions in order to assess whether they are pure and healthy.  If not, then you might be veering into magic that is not the best option for you.

When it comes to magic, a person who wants to do a spell needs to keep in mind one thing – what you send into the universe you will get back.  So, if you send something darker out into the universe for your own benefit, you will get that same energy back a few times over.  This is probably not what you want to happen.  However, it’s not the magic’s fault that you did something darker – you are the only one who can control what you do and who can make the decision whether or not to perform a particular spell.  The magic isn’t black, but the intentions might be.
