Love Spells
Voodoo
love spells are among the most powerful love spells that exist,
but they are also one of the most complex when it comes to
casting them. However, as Voodoo is relatively obscure and
has a kind of “bad press” thanks to several “Z” category
horror stories, it is only right to explain what Voodoo really
is before discussing its love spells.
What is Voodoo (Vodou)?
Voodoo
(often written and pronounced as “Vodou”)
is a mystical/magic tradition deeply rooted in the African shamanism
and magic traditions, but strongly influenced by the Christianity,
especially by Roman Catholicism. Brought to the New World by
African slaves, Voodoo persisted throughout the centuries and
is now a lively spiritual movement all across the southern states
and in the Caribbean Sea region. Its true center is Haiti – the
saying that Haiti “is 80% Roman Catholic, 20% Protestant
and 100% Voodoo” is all too true.
Contrary
to common beliefs, Voodoo is not all about creating zombies,
killing chickens and summoning evil spirits. While Voodoo love
spells, nature spells or even necromantic spells do exist,
it is mostly a way of serving and communicating with powerful
spirits, called “loa” by
hougans (Voodoo priests) or mambos (priestesses). Loa sometimes
can be asked to help the priests in return for their services.
The priests and priestesses contact the loa during long rituals
during which they are ridden (“possessed”) by the
spirits. While it still has nothing to do with any form of a
black magic, it can be mostly unsettling experience for those
untrained in the ways of Voodoo magic. It is not recommended
to try Voodoo love spells (or any other Voodoo spells if that
matters) at home unless you are a hougan or mambo yourself.
While loa can be calm or dangerous, none of them can be called “evil” or “good” in
a Christian sense of these words. The darker paths of Voodoo
can be used only by bokors (sorcerers that have learned both
white and black magic), but even for them Voodoo dolls or creating
zombies are little more than myths.
How do Voodoo love spells work?
Voodoo
love spells are rituals performed by hougan or mambo who use
the power of loa to cast aside obstacles that stay in the path
of love. During the self-incited trance, the magician opens
him- or herself to the right loa (usually Aida-Wedo or Damballa).
During the trance, the spellcaster becomes one with the spirit
and gains an ability to channel the spiritual energies to form
desired effects.
Of
course, Voodoo love spells require also some physical ways
of transmission – most notably, they
need some items belonging to the subjects of the love spell.
The love spell effects sometimes take form of some amulet or
a potion to be given to the subject of the spell, but it strongly
depends on the hougan or mambo casting the spell. In some Voodoo
traditions the material components are completely used up during
the ritual and the final effects happen regardless of the physical
proximity of an amulet.
Despite
the unique form of Voodoo love spells, their final effects
must comply with the six principles of love spells. It means
that they cannot harm anyone, cause any negative long-term
side-effects or tricks a love spell subject in any way. Even
the spells cast by bokors cannot set aside those rules.
